Sacramental Preparation: Reconciliation & Eucharist

Our Catholic sacraments are celebrations that involve certain words and actions that point to God’s work in our lives. For a baptized Catholic, reconciliation absolves one from sin and reunites the penitent into friendship with God. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is received in preparation for First Holy Communion.

A child is ready for preparation for Reconciliation and First Communion if:

  • The child is baptized and at least 7 years old;

  • The child attends mass regularly, including holy days of obligation. The child will learn the Eucharist is the source and summit of Christian life;

  • Prayer is experienced in the home. Your child will be learning our traditional Catholic prayers and the Ten Commandments;

  • The child will be supported to attend all sessions for Reconciliation and Communion.

If this is a challenging season due to other family commitments you are invited to register for the Spring/Summer 2025 session which meets May through August 2025. Registration opens February 2025

An information Parent Meeting will be held Saturday, September 28, 4-4:45p, Parish Hall, Room 4. Children need not be present but are welcome if supervision is needed. The registration deadline is Friday, September 27.

Sacramental Prep sessions are part of our Families in Faith program held Saturdays, 3:30-4:45p, starting October 5. Parents of Sacramental Prep candidates are highly encouraged to participate with their child. Siblings are invited to register in a Formation class for their age group

Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me.’ And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you.’
